Machining and fabrication for Medowie
Medowie is about 30 minutes from the workshop and it’s a different world to the waterfront suburbs — acreage, sheds, horses, tradies who work all over the Hunter, and a lot of equipment maintained at home.
What Medowie sends us
Acreage and small farm gear. Slashers, mowers, post drivers, augers, trailers, floats and stock crates. The failures are always the same: a shaft, a pin, a bush, a bracket or a mount. Most of these parts are either obsolete or cost more to freight in than to make.
Horse floats and trailers. Rusted-out members, coupling and jockey wheel mounts, ramp hardware, guard mounts, tie-off points.
Tradesmen’s vehicles and gear. Ute racks, tray brackets, tool-box mounts, and repairs to anything that’s cracked from a working life on unsealed roads.
Boat owners without water frontage. A lot of Medowie people keep a boat at home and tow it to the ramp. That means trailer work — the same drawbar extensions, winch posts and rusted cross members we do for the waterfront suburbs, plus aluminium hull and stainless rail repairs.
No drawings? Doesn’t matter
The most common Medowie job is “this broke and I can’t buy another one”. Bring us the broken part. We measure it, model it in Fusion 360 and machine a new one. If it broke because it was under-designed in the first place, we’ll tell you and offer to make it stronger — otherwise you’ll be back.
Working alongside the marine trades
The marine service businesses at Medowie are good at what they do — motors, servicing, electrics — and most of them don’t do welding or metal fabrication, and they say so. That’s us. If your mechanic has told you the metal side is somebody else’s job, this is where it goes.
The trip
It’s a run in from Medowie, so make it worth it. Ring first, send a photo, and we’ll tell you whether to bring the part, the machine or the whole trailer — and whether we can turn it around while you wait.
