Machining and marine fabrication for Nelson Bay

Nelson Bay is the busiest bit of water in Port Stephens. The marina, the charter fleet, the dive boats, the ferries, the fishing co-op and a few hundred private boats all working out of one basin — and until now, nobody on this side of the water was doing marine metal fabrication.

We’re at Salamander Bay, about 10 minutes from the Nelson Bay marina.

The work that comes out of Nelson Bay

Charter and commercial. Boats that work for a living break things and can’t sit around waiting. Rails, ladders, bait boards, brackets, deck gear, shaft and bearing work. If a boat is out of the water and the clock’s running, tell us when you ring.

Private boats off the marina. Bent bow rails, cracked stainless, rocket launchers, ladders, custom brackets for a new sounder or downrigger.

Hospitality and tourism. Nelson Bay runs on visitors, and the businesses along the waterfront have gear that fails — kitchen and cool room parts, awning and shade frames, brackets, hand rails, and one-off parts for equipment that’s out of warranty and out of production. If it’s metal and it’s broken, bring it in.

Why this used to mean a trip to Gosford

Until now, decent marine metal fabrication meant loading up and heading down the highway. Gosford and Warners Bay are the nearest genuine options, and that’s a long day with a boat on the back.

We’re on the peninsula. That’s the whole point.
