Machine shop in Salamander Bay
We’re not “servicing” Salamander Bay. We’re in it. The workshop is at 12 George Road and everything on this website is made in that building.
That means if you’re local, you can do something you can’t do with a machine shop in Newcastle or Gosford: walk in with the broken part in your hand, put it on the counter, and have a conversation about it with the bloke who’s going to machine it.
What we do here
CNC turning and CNC milling, precision machining, and one-off parts. Reverse engineering from a sample when the original is obsolete and there are no drawings. Shaft and bush work. Fusion 360 design and DXFs if you need drawings made. Sheet metal cut and fold, and welding and fabrication, delivered through partners we work with.
What comes to us from Salamander Bay
George Road is a working street. There’s marine trade along here, there are trades based out of the local units, and there’s Salamander Shopping Centre and the businesses around it.
Day to day, the local work is: boat owners with a bent rail or a cracked hull, marine mechanics who need a part made that they can’t buy, trades who’ve broken something on a machine and need it Thursday, and people restoring something old where the part simply isn’t available any more.
Round the corner from the water
Salamander Bay sits on the southern shore of Port Stephens, minutes from Soldiers Point, Corlette and Nelson Bay, and a short run from the ramps. If your boat’s on the trailer, we’re a stop on the way home rather than a trip.
We’re not in competition with the marine service businesses along George Road — they do motors and servicing, we do metal. When they need something machined or fabricated, that’s us.
Hours and lead time
Monday to Friday. No Saturday work — there’s Todd and one machinist, and the shop shuts on the weekend.
The machines run lights-out overnight, so jobs keep progressing after hours. For a small shop, our lead times surprise people.
