Marine metalwork for Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest
Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest sit on the Myall River at the northern side of the port. It’s a boating town — river frontage, private jetties and pontoons, and a fleet that ranges from tinnies to cruisers.
It’s a fair drive around by road — roughly about an hour via the highway. The ferry across from Nelson Bay is quicker for a person but no use for a trailer.
What we do for Tea Gardens
River jetties and pontoons. Brackets, ladders, cleats and their backing plates, hand rails, gangway parts, pile brackets. Galvanised steel for structure, 316 stainless for anything handled or bolted to a boat. Hot dip galvanising is done off-site and adds turnaround, so plan ahead on those jobs.
Aluminium hulls. Cracked plate, transom repairs, splits and corrosion. 5083 and 5052.
Stainless fittings. Bow and stern rails, grab rails, rocket launchers, bait boards, ladders, custom brackets.
Shaft and running gear. Boats that live on a mooring or in the water need shaft straightening, re-sleeving, cutlass bearing housings and custom bushes. That’s our core machining work.
Make one trip, not three
Given the drive, the way to do this is: photograph everything, ring us, and get it sorted on the phone before you load up. We’ll tell you what we need to see, what we can do while you wait, and what has to be left with us.
If you’ve got several jobs — a rail, a trailer problem and a bracket you want made — bring them all in one go. Better for you, easier for us to quote.
Fixed structures and site work
For jetty and pontoon work where the part can’t come off, tell us — we’ll sort out how to measure it. Tea Gardens is inside our range for a measure-up — it is an hour each way by road, so we will batch it with other work up that end where we can. Bring the part to us if it can come off; if it cannot, we will come to it.
Ring first: 0478 790 631. Send photos before you make the drive around, and bring everything in one trip. 12 George Road, Salamander Bay. Mon–Fri.
