Precision machining for Tomago
Tomago is heavy industry — the aluminium smelter and the industrial estate around it, with the businesses that support them. It’s about 40 minutes from the workshop.
We’re not pretending to be a big supplier to heavy industry. We’re a two-man shop. What we’re good at is the job that’s too small, too urgent or too odd for a big shop to want.
The jobs we’re right for
One-offs. One part, needed properly, needed soon. Big shops price these badly because they don’t want them. We do them all day.
Breakdown parts with no drawings. Something’s snapped, there’s no print, and the supplier’s gone. Bring us the pieces — we measure, model and machine.
Pins, bushes, shafts and spacers. Turned to size, to the fit you actually need. Interference, transition or clearance — tell us what it’s going into and we’ll get the fit right rather than machining to a nominal number and hoping.
Small repeat batches. Twenty of something rather than two thousand. That’s a good size for us.
Tooling and fixture parts. Jigs, locators, adaptor plates, guards and mounts.
Materials
4140 heat-treated, tool steels, 316 stainless, and 5083 and 5052 marine aluminium. If the part is going somewhere hot, wet, or under load, tell us and we’ll pick the material to match rather than making it out of whatever’s on the rack.
What we’re not
We’re not certified to any quality standard, we don’t have a big team, and anything that needs an engineer’s sign-off or a certified weld goes through a certified partner and is managed by us. If a job needs certification we’ll tell you at the enquiry stage rather than halfway through.
What you get instead is the bloke who runs the machines answering the phone.
Ring 0478 790 631 with what you need and when you need it. Drawings, DXFs or a photo of the broken part all work. 12 George Road, Salamander Bay. Mon–Fri.
