Sheet Metal Fabrication

We design it, and we have it cut and folded.

A folded stainless bracket with clean, sharp fold lines

Straight up about how this works: the guillotine and CNC press brake we use are at a partner facility, which we use after hours. The design, the flat pattern, the DXF and the whole job are ours. You deal with us start to finish, and you get one price and one delivery date.

That arrangement is why our sheet metal work is worth your time — because the part of sheet metal that goes wrong is almost never the folding. It is the design.

The bit that actually matters: the flat pattern

Sheet metal that does not fit is sheet metal that was drawn without allowing for what happens when steel bends. Bend allowance, K-factor, inside radius, bend reliefs, the order the folds have to go in, and whether the last fold can physically clear the press brake tooling.

Todd designs sheet metal in Fusion 360 daily. Every part is modelled folded, unfolded to a flat pattern, and checked for bend sequence before a single sheet gets cut. You get a part that folds up square and bolts where it is supposed to.

If your part is complicated, we will print a paper or plastic mock-up first and check it fits before we cut steel.

Folded perforated stainless enclosures

What we make

  • Brackets and mounting plates — folded, drilled and ready to bolt on
  • Machine guards and covers — safety guarding, belt covers, splash guards
  • Enclosures and boxes — electrical enclosures, control boxes, housings
  • Panels and trays — cable trays, drip trays, chip trays, panel infills
  • Chutes, hoppers and shrouds
  • Flashings, trims and custom folded sections
  • Prototype parts — one folded sample before you commit to a run

Materials

Mild steel, 316 stainless for marine and food-grade work, and aluminium where weight matters.

Cutting is on a guillotine and folding on a CNC press brake at a partner facility we have full use of. Send the drawing with the material and thickness and we will confirm it can be folded in one piece.

DXFs for laser and waterjet

If your part is better suited to laser or waterjet cutting than to our guillotine, we will produce a clean, cutter-ready DXF and get it cut — profiles, holes, slots, tabs and etch lines, all in the right layers, correctly scaled, with no duplicate or open geometry.

We also do this as a standalone job. If you already have a cutter you use and you just need a proper DXF, we will draw it. See industrial design and CAD.

Machined and folded in the one job

The advantage of a sheet metal part coming from a machine shop is that anything on it needing precision gets machined properly. A folded bracket with a bored and reamed pivot hole, a tapped boss, or a machined face is a single job here, not three suppliers and a fortnight.

Where the job needs welding — a folded box that has to be seam welded, or a bracket that needs a gusset — that goes to the welders we work with. See welding.

Where to start

Send a drawing, a sketch, or a photo of the thing the part has to fit around. Measurements on a scrap of paper are fine. If you have got the old bracket, bring it in and we will copy it.
